Growing up I was one of those odd kids who actually loved the first day of school. The anticipation of a fresh start brought excitement to me and eagerness to begin the new school year. New teachers. New classes. New notebooks. A brand-new school year waiting to be filled with possibilities.
My Favorite Back-to-School Rituals
Back to school shopping was more than just the cute clothes. It was the color coded notebooks and folders, the pencils, the binders, the PLANNERS! Oh man was I a planning and system person even from the start. I wasn't just buying school supplies. I was creating a system. 😂

Maybe I Was Always Meant to Be a Teacher
Looking back, I sometimes wonder if a little part of me was always meant to be a teacher. I loved preparing for school almost as much as I loved being there. Give me a stack of notebooks, a fresh pack of pencils, a schedule to follow, and a color-coding system and I was a happy girl.
Although I never became a teacher (at least not in the formal school setting) that love for learning and school never really left me.
The Joy of Learning Doesn't Belong to Just One Person
Maybe that's what I love most about back-to-school season. It's not just about going back to school. It's about the feeling of a fresh beginning. Even as a parent I get this excitement of a feeling of new fresh starts. Back to the routines, back to the goals, back to the progress of moving forward.

I may not be buying a new folder for every subject anymore, but I still get that little spark when August rolls around. There's something about a new school year that makes me want to organize, reset, dream a little, and get ready for what's ahead. Maybe that's why I loved creating this collection so much. It feels like a little piece of the girl who couldn't wait to sharpen her pencils and pack her backpack.
